Recovery disk?

my friend has a computer that is pretty much virused beyond repair, so I suggested that he restore it. He got it privately, so it didn't come with a windows xp cd or a recovery cd. Is there any way that I can make a recovery CD for him, either by using my computer (which has windows xp) or by downloading something from the internet that will allow him to restore his computer? Thanks.

Recovery disk?suzuki

you can still buy XP cd's

and do a bare clean windows install

but the first things to do are get a copy of

"Wipeout.exe"

this program zeros the MBR unlike regular repartitioning / reformatting,

then if you can get "Low Level" utilities for the Drive

ie for seagate / maxtor drives you get "Seatools"

etc.

in the drive utilities there should be an option to "Zero Drive" / "Zero Fill Drive" etc. that basically writes every sector on the disk back to a "zero" wiping all data including "leftovers" from virus, spyware, adware, worms, etc.

and because it's done from a boot disk and "zero fill" is usually a function of the drive itself, virus etc. can't spread to the util. disk

once this is done then proceed with a new installation of windows.

you could temporarilly ghost your pc and use "restore anyware" (not misspelled, that's the program)
