Depends on the connection. For best results you should use a router/switch behind your DSL/Cable modem this will let you create your own private network and the router will manage the traffic (improve speed).

i think your supposed to hook it up to the same modem.

that's what we did with ours...and if that doesn't work than its your Internet....we have 3 computers connected to one modem and the Internet is still fast...we have vonage Internet...cox is OK but after a while, it slows down
