2000 Jeep Wrangler modular power train?

just found out this repair is going to cost me over $1000 to fix (computer). Anybody else have or had this problem? 74,000 miles on it

The PCM is covered for 8 years/80,000 miles thru the vehicle emissions warranty. Check with the dealer. It might not cost anything!!

I haven't had that problem with my Jeep, but several of my friends' computers went out on them (different makes and models). There really is nothing you can do about it. You can't prevent it and there is no cure for it besides paying up. Every car made now days has a computer, and there will always be a chance they will break. Sorry for your luck. Only other thing I can recommend is shop around on the internet for a cheaper computer.
sometimes it is the computer and it must be replaced some parts stores offer remaned units. also a used one might be available. to shop for one you will need the part no. off the old one. be careful once you buy it there is no returns.
had same problem, sold it and bought shogun, far better
One idea would be to send your ECM/ computer to a aftermarket parts store a company called A1 cardone can do a reflash or just get you a reman part those reman's usually have a core and cost about $600 max. Heres a link http://www.cardone.com/english/club/

Check it out maybe it will help and yes there are some ECM issues with the jeeps but mainly on the 5.2 engines.
