We have a 1992 Sony 50" projection screen TV and we see nothing but a black screen and numbers

It's a Model KPR53EX35 and it shows no static, just a black screen. I am trying to hook it up to my Dish (Dish Network) with no luck at all. I am wondering if the computer is messed up and/or if the costs of repair would be worth while. Any help would be much appreciated. It does show movies when hooked up to the DVD player when in multi screen format (PIP), but there is a section missing in lower left corner.

Try this.... starting with the TV off, take the remote control and (in this order) press: [DISP], [5], [VOL+], [PWR ON]. Then, when the TV comes on, press the number [8] then [Enter]. This should reset the TV to factory defaults and you can then reprogram everything the way it was.

The 1st question I have is how do you have it hooked up? Is it with coax cable? or is it with the Yellow, Red and White cables? If it is with coax make sure you have the TV input set on tuner and on the correct channel, either 3 or 4.

If it is hooked up the other way make sure you have the TV input on the correct input (input 1, 2 or 3 etc...) If you think you have it hooked up correctly call Dish and ask them to come out and make sure their stuff is hooked up correctly to the receiver.

As for the section missing in the lower part of your TV it is from the PIP which really makes me think that your receiver is hooked up incorrectly or is inoperable.

Good luck!
