Windows media player error crisis help?

I try to use media player and it says :

"Window Media Player is not installed properly and must be reinstalled" so i downloaded it and it then says

It downloads wmp 11 then says

"There is a more recent verson of wmp( 11.0.6000.6344) already installed on your computer. It is not possible to use an older package(11.0.5721.5146) to install or repair your current version of the player"

I have tried to download media player 11 from different sources, have the same problem Any one know any fixes. I cant play music, dvds, install software, system restore doesnt work or registry repair software. Cant reboot my computer because not of my disks run now help please

i can reboot computer but cant use any disks. Also windows media player cant be located in add or remove programs or using reno program. Yet because i have vista. Microsoft website says it is part of vista program. Has any one any ideas on how to fix this?
