No paste, no drag and drop, no system restore! Win XP giving me a hard time?

I use Win Xp Media Edition. sudden;y my computer got a blue screen/ I repaired using my XP roll up CD. Now I can log in to XP but I cannot modify my own files. I have administrative privileges. But i can't drag and drop. copy and paste. Even i can't connect to my wireless network. Windows defender give an error. CHKDSK /F says i am in a read-only mode. CANNOT do a system restore either. Windows not allowing me to re-install or un-install win Defender as well. what is the problem and the solution. please/ thanks

You may have a boot virus. There are some free tech groups that specialize in providing instructions for manual malware cleaning. You could join one of them and they will walk you through.

time to format and start over from scratch
Try starting in Safe Mode. If you can do so go to control panel and uninstall windows defender.Then try a system restore. If necessary, you can always contact Microsoft and have them walk you through an OS reinstall.
