Just yesterday, i got my computer back from it being repaired. They put in a new hard drive. Before this my laptop had HP_Recovery as a partition, and i was able to reinstall windows to its factory settings by pressing F11 and reinstalling widows. My laptop still has a hp recovery partition but none of the F keys can access it. Please help. (PS it is xp media center edition in default settings but i installed vista home premium if that means anything)

You must install the drivers first. yopu can find it through website or mother cd if at all it is given to you.
or use google.
separate setup file exists for rescue and recovery. it is around 250 mb in size.
it must work. the keys are not working because drivers are not installed. it si as simple as that.

Haven't you heard vista is a enity of it's own. You got original backups reinstall them don't worry about the partition your new hard drive doesn't have one. Partitions are useless they slow your whole system down.
you must reinstall the drives from hp or from your hardware disc if u have any if not just download for hp's web site
