Kia Sportage keeps dying ?

My aunt has a 2000 Kia Sportage and it keeps dying like someone pulled the plug. Sometimes it will run for like 5 mins or even a day or more ... but then just die again .... we took it to a car repair shop but they said they cant find nothing they even ran it on a computer no problems and said it was running normal for them ... and thats is our problem it wont happen all the time ... it has new spark plugs, fuel injector has been cleaned, crankshaft , alternator , a new timing belt, battery and brakes and rotors . Any ideas could this be fuel related in anyway ? It feels like the fuel just gets shut off no warnings as if someone pulled the key out of the ignition and we have to wait a few minutes before we can get it running again , which mostlikely dies after getting it running again.

Any ideas what the problem could be?

KIA Carnival mechanical defects after 40000kms requiring complete engine replacement, KIA sportage and Rio cutting out due to incorrect wiring in the vehicle requiring a complete rewiring of the vehicles and the list goes on.

My advice to you is to get rid of the KIA and go get somthing else.

I have a 96 Plymouth Grand Voyager that has completely stopped running, and won't start, twice now. It happened once, then after repairs that included a fuel filter, pvc valve, air filter and fuel pump, it sputters and stalls, and the engine light comes on. The mechanic has checked the wiring harness, and tried another computer in it, with no change in the results. This is a reputable car repair place with mechanics that have worked on my vehicle for about two years, and I trust them completely, but they seem to have no idea what's wrong. Also, I have replaced the serpentine belt twice and the belt tensioner three times, all under warranty, and now the tensioner is wiggly again. I don't know if these are conncted in some way. The belt does not appear to come off. I had gas tank problems about three years ago, that were covered under a recall, and no longer seems to be a problem. I'm at my wits end. Any ideas?

You were not all that clear concerning what the mechanics found, only some of what they did.

Is it getting spark?

Is the fuel pressure within spec?

Which engine?

There are a host of causes of these symptoms for this vehicle, but the most confusing to diagnose on Chrysler products seems to be the CAM and CRANK sensors.

When one or the other or both begin to fail, the PCM loses its "SYNC" signal, and the engine runs like it is running out of fuel, or like it has a bad plug wire, or both.

i am a user of norton anti virus and it basically means that you had the virus but now norton has detected and removed this virus. it should also indicated what category the virus was ie. low medium high and very high and tell you what the virus was called.

Why do I get "limited or no connectivity" on my own wireless when I can connect to others

I have set up a wireless network in my house and it works fine for other people, but my laptop won't connect to it. I know the laptop is fine because it connects to other networks ok. I can connect to the internet by plugging in the cable to the router.

When I try to connect wirelessly, I get an error message saying "limited or no connectivity," which means "you might not be able to access internet or some network resources. This problem occurred because the network did not assign a network address to the computer."

When I click on repair, it says that it "could not finish repairing the network because the following action could not be completed: Renewing your IP address."

Once again: Other laptops can connect to the network and my laptop connects to other networks. I can connect to the router, but only through the cable. I'm stumped. Can anybody help?

Do you have WEP or WPA enabled? If you could dump your setings here that would help.

The biggest things I see for this problem when I help people out, is on encryption type, some routers are stingy about your choice. If you have it on shared encryption, change it to open (or vice versa) and give that a try. Disable the wireless modem, and enable it again and see if that works.

Always try to narrow it down the smallest problem. It sounds that since other people can connect, it is probably your computer. So try disabling any protection, and see if you can get to the modem at all.

I have looked at other answers but could not find a specific one to my issue. I bought a USB 108 Mbps wireless USB 2.0 adaptor from NETGEAR. I currently have my own wireless network with a LINKSYS wireless router. I plugged in the adaptor to a computer and attempted to link into my router. I entered all my passphrase codes. The software from NETGEAR does indeed capture the signal, but I get the little warning from XP saying "The connection has limited or no connectivity. You might not be able to access the internet or some network resources. The problem occurred because the network did not assign a network address to the computer". When I try to 'repair' the connection it attempts to 'renew my IP address". After a minute I get the warning saying it could not renew the IP address. I am currently running Windows XP.

This occurs when you can't link with the DHCP Server in the router.

The fact that you say it is 108 MHz tells me you have an "N" type of adapter. If the Linksys Router is not an "N" type router, then it is up to the Netgear Adapter to auto-baud down to the "G" type speed.

I think you need to ask yourself if you want to work indoors or outdoors. Some of them will definately put you outdoors most of the time. Depending on where you'll be living, that can be really uncomfortable. If you'd rather be indoors, then the nursing assitant would be a good choice. There are a lot of jobs in the nursing industry and good money to be made.

MSN Messanger (current) is not letting me sign in?

The program version, Windows Live messanger won't let me sign in, but I can sign in just fine using the web version. The program will run for a long time, then tell me to troubleshoot, and when I troubleshoot it says everything is running. I have repaired the program, uninstalled adn reinstalled, restarted my computer, and even restarted the router, nothing seems to fix the problem. I've had a couple of problems with not being able to sign in with Windows Live Messenger. If you did the troubleshooting and nothing came up, look at the date on the computer clock. I know it sounds weird, but WLM will not sign in unless the correct date is set. You could try that.

Vista Rebooting Continuously?

I installed Windows Vista Ultimate edition X86 edition two days ago and everything was up and running perfect with no problems. I installed the windows updates and then shut it down. I woke up the next morning and started the computer and now. My computer restarts continuously right before the splash screen and I can't get into safe mode. I tried pressing f8 and going to safe mode or the last known good config, but the computer just restarts all over again. When I put in the windows vista disc, and try to run repair vista installation it just stops a few seconds later and says that I have recently unpluged a device like a camera or some bs. I went to system restore and restored to a previous point and still the contiously rebooting. Any ideas on how I can fix this problem?

There are 2 computers in my house and the internet was not working, on my computer i disabled the wireless then it wouldnt let me enable it. i Tried resetting the router and now the other computer is connected to the internet. First of all wireless sucks bad. I have had wireless for 2 years now and I have to fix it about every other week. I have it all set up right but it doesn't work well at all!!! I would suggest to ping the wireless adapter using run %26gt; type in cmd %26gt; then type in ping your ip address 192.168.1.1 hit enter it will show if it's talking to the network. Stay far far away from wireless, you've been warned.

1) Make sure your Laptop doesn't have a wireless SWITCH on the body of the laptop -- some do/some don't. It will either be a button or a switch which disables the antennae. It will look like an "i" with radio waves coming out of it. -- if it does, obviously you want it 'enabled' or turned on. -- sometimes it gets bumped and turned off by accident.

look for anything named smartbridge or SB and uncheck it.

Defragmenting C drive isn't working?

I wanted to defragment my C drive today, and i haven't done it before. I've only used the defragment feature for removable disks, and that usually works smoothly for me.

Then it said there were error and i needed to skandisk and repair problems, then try to defragment it again.

I used scandisk, and it restarted 10 times, said there were programs running that were writting on C drive and i needed to stop those programs. what programs? How would I go about stopping these programs for the time that i'm doing this? I didn't have any open windows, and everything was off my toolbar because explorer caused an error and shutdown when i was trying to defragment the first time. all i had on my toolbar was the time. what should i do now? i restarted and the computer is running the same as usual now, but i'd still like to clean up my C drive.

I have this leak above my gas tank. When I had a muffler replaced, I could see it was only a rubber hose, or a clamp. Yet, all the repair places I try want to take off my gas tank, make me buy a new one, make me get all new fuel lines, filters, and whatever. Can't I get a honest place to fix the little hose leak, or replace the clamp without trying to charge me up to $750 like they want? i own a repair shop and it may be a small leak in a hose,but the reason they might have wanted to drop the tank is so they could check and see if the very top of the tank had any holes in it,often they will rot out on the very top,but look it over if its a hose you might be able to do this your self,just take your time with it remember gas can explode at any time even a spark from static electricity will set it off,so be careful,if you feel uncomfortable doing this take it somewhere and have it checked or repaired,good luck with it hope this helps.

Hi i have recently brought a Belkin F5D5000 v2000 Desktop PCI Card because my motherboard enthernet connector is malfunctioning ive installed the driver manualy and it doesnt work it comes up with error 10 this device cannot start. it does work i took the computer to a local pc repair shop and they got it to work for a while then it stoped. does anyone have this problem or knows a solution. thanks

Have you disabled the local area connection, if that is still enabled that can cause a conflict?

Did they turn the onboard malfunctioning one on the motherboard off from the BIOS?

If they didn't then its still active and that may cause a problem.

Once that's turned off there, they need to disable it in the hardware and network settings of your OS. Then it will be completely turned off.
go to device manager and see if there is anything yellow! if it is - you need to uninstall the device, probably the onboard ethernet and then re-install it. you may need drivers from the manufacturer website or driverguide.com and if you can't go online, you will need another way to get the drivers to your problematic pc. you may need another computer and a flash drive to copy the files to...

If you don't see the partition at all you may need to find a disk partitioning software in order to reload the corrupted partition. Try a google search to see what kind of disk partitioning software exist and which one has the option to repair broken or missing partitions. Using the standard Windows CD will not help since from what your are saying windows do not see the partition at all. I believe that you will require to use specialized partitioning software to solve your issue.

Corrupt hard drive - How can I recover files??

I've asked this previously, but I am re-creating the questions as many didn't understand.

A few days ago, I was happily browsing the net on my usually reliable PC, when it suddenly crashed. When I restarted it, it would fail to come to windows, and keep restarting itself after POST. I assumed this was either the power-supply or hard drive, then finding out it was my hard drive later on.

I took this hard disk, and put it into my other computer as a slave (didn't want to lose anything). When I turned it on, it said 'ERROR PRIMARIY SLAVE S.M.A.R.T COMMAND FAILIURE' or something to that effect. Press F1 to continue.. and so I did. Then windows XP starting checking the disk (Automatically)... deleting, restoring, repairing etc etc stuff (Many errors).

On desktop, I was hoping I may be able to access my slave hard drive (get my emails, pictures and bioshock saves off it ), but no luck. It would almost freeze the computer when trying to do anything with it.

How can I get my files back? :(

We have gone through all of Comcast's repair options and Toshiba support options and they say our last resort is to use the recovery disc that came with the computer. I have not backed up my computer yet and would like to avoid this option if possible. My computer will connect on line at my office with a different service. Any suggestions on how to fix this issue without the recovery disk? By the way, Comcast was working on the line the day before this happened to our computers. Do you think this has any connection to our problems?

It is very possible that it is Comcast related, especially if they were working on the lines, something could have gotten messed up. I would contact them, they should send one of their tech guys over, to take a look at if for you and get it up and running.

You shouldn't have to use the recovery cds for this kind of problem.

my parents planned to get sbcyahoo dsl and we got it but we've never actually installed it onto the computer. in my laptop, i just plugged in the phone cable into my laptop and then my laptop got signal to get onto the internet wherever i went in the house. though at times the signal would go off then id hav to repair the connection. but now that we actually installed the dsl into a computer at home (not my laptop) the internet connection in my laptop wont work. i tried connecting the modem to my laptop, and it used to work, but stopped workking so i gave up trying. but isnt the laptop supposed to be wirelessa and automitacially connect by itself? what should i do? my lapyop is a dell if that helps. and am i supposed to know anything about the network key or something,.

They probably changed out your harddrive or a piece of hardware. Now Itunes thinks that you are using a different computer. Itunes allows you to listen to the songs on up to five different computers. Good ole DRM.

All you have to do is click on one of the itunes songs like you want to listen to it on your computer and it will ask you for the itune user name (email address?) and password. Enter thoses and send it to the Ipod and you will be back in business assuming you have the songs on less than five computers.

I put the key in the ignition it turns over but engine will not start . They can tell if the pump is good by reading the fuel pressure. this is easy enough for any shop to do, and should have been done while troubleshooting. It sounds to me like you are getting your chain yanked.

Since you are speaking of computers, the truck is fuel injected, correct? The pump is inside the tank, and if it is half full of fuel, you have a very physically demanding job in front of you.

Tell them to check the fuel pressure. If they can't or won't, get it towed to another repair facility.
You have two possibilities when it will crank and not start: Fuel or Ignition (spark).

Make sure you have spark first, that's the easiest test.

If you do, then you're not getting fuel. I don't know the year of your truck, but there are any number of relays that could be the problem: Injector relay, fuel pump relay.

But most likely it is your fuel pump. $1200 to replace a fuel pump is way high, so I'd start calling some "non-dealership" shops and get quotes.

Windows media player error help? This is stressing me out. I try to use media player and it says :

"Window Media Player is not installed properly and must be reinstalled" so i downloaded it and it downloads wmp 11 then says "There is a more recent verson of wmp( 11.0.6000.6344) already installed on your computer. I had to send it for repair of the OD- and they kept replacing it with the wrong parts so HP is standing by their product and warranty and replacing the laptop with a much higher model. I have an iPod and 2 external drives with all my music and video files totalling over 500gb. By the way- - are you getting vista ultimate, business, home premium, or basic? if you are getting basic, MANY great features of vista will not be included. be careful. Home Premium is probably the best for the price you pay. Vista ultimate comes with a feature "dreamscene" that allows you to use videos as your wallpaper- - don't buy ultimate just for that feature-- you can find alternatives to dreamscene. just type "dreamscene for home premium" in google, and you should find something.

The power cord (the charger) to my IBM ThinkPad laptop has a short in it. The wires are fraying near the end that plugs into the back of the computer. You will have to replace the power cord. Most of the power cords for IBM/Lenovo are model specific. I suggest that you get an identical power cord.

If you use an older power cord with a newer model IBM the power adapter can overheat and do damage to your laptop.

Hello there, I am a computer geek who often performs repairs on friend's computers and such. Anyway with XP I am well armed and knowledgeable with reliable software for removing spyware and adware, viruses, registry cleaners, etc. Anyway with Vista gaining in popularity as new computers are being shipped with it, I was wondering if anyone knew of any such tools that would be good with vista.

Ok so if I understand correctly.

You install Ubuntu on an external.

Vista is on Internal.

You dropped external...

Now you have no ubuntu...

Therefore grub cant properly load the info to boot to windows because it is on the external...

What has happened is, you basically have lost the drive which contains your Master Boot Record... which would have been on the internal, but is now on the external due to Ubuntu being installed...

If you have files you want to keep, there is really only one way to repair a situation like this...

You need a program called Acronis Disk Director Suite 10.0

You can get it on torrents for free, or you can Honor the programmer, and go to your local computer store and buy it...

A few days back when i tried to restart my system having win XP, it displayed the message:

Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

Also, these files were present in c:\windows\repair

As instructed at microsoft website and at many other websites, I copied them from repair to config. But when I restarted my computer, it did not display any error message but after loading some files it automatically reboots.

Can someone tell me the cause and remedy for this?

I bought the computer several months ago, and I have a popup blocker that keeps most programs from getting past. This particular popup however always gets through, even when I target it specifically with my blocker. It is just a small window that says "messenger services" in it, and it says my computer has issues and it tries to direct me to a website to download a "repair" for a fee of course. It tries to send me to registrycleanerxp.com and a couple of other places. These things pop up at least every 15 minutes when I'm online. Any ideas where they're embedded? Thanks

Vista wont stop restarting before log in screen.?

I installed Windows Vista Ultimate edition X86 edition two days ago and everything was up and running perfect with no problems. I installed the windows updates and then shut it down. I woke up the next morning and started the computer and now. My computer restarts continuously right before the splash screen and I can't get into safe mode. I tried pressing f8 and going to safe mode or the last known good config, but the computer just restarts all over again. When I put in the windows vista disc, and try to run repair vista installation it just stops a few seconds later and says that I have recently unpluged a device like a camera or some bs. I went to system restore and restored to a previous point and still the contiously rebooting. Any ideas on how I can fix this problem?

how did you get to windows and system restore in the first place? anyway, seems like you need to get in BIOS and check out boot order. but i doubt its bios-windows compatability b/c its already attempted to boot windows. sry i cant be of more help

Have you restarted the PC, power it completly off, just a reboot often doesn't reset network hardware. You can also try disabling the network card and re-enabling. Or go to control panel , system, hardware, device manager and check it's status. If it looks OK delete the network card and then reboot, the PC should rediscover it, this usually fixes this issue if the card isn't faulty.
Try this:

Click Start

Click Run

Type "cmd" (without quotes and press enter)

Type "ipconfig /flushdns" (without quotes and press enter)

This basically resets your Local Area Connection.
What I would suggest to do would be to set a static IP for that machine, assuming you are using XP you will need to do the following, first find out what IP range your router or modem or what ever is acting as the DHCP server is using, this is easy to find out as it will be the IP you would use to log in to the web interface for your router, lets assume it is 192.168.0.1 what you would next would be to go to start %26gt;%26gt; Control panel %26gt;%26gt; Network connections %26gt;%26gt; then right click on your network that you see appearing there and select properties, next double click Internet protocol in the list you see in the middle of the properties window, in there it will have a box saying automatically detect or assign your own (something to that effect) select assign now in the top box you will need to add the ip address you want to use now the ip address for the router is (for this example) 192.168.0.1 so we know thats taken and seeing as there is 5 computers I would say all the lower end of the range would be to, so in the IP address box input something like 192.168.0.20 then below that you will see subnet THIS SHOULD AUTOMATICALLY FILL IN, then it will ask for the default gateway this is just the address of your router modem or DHCP server (which ever thing is assigning the IP address's) so for this example it is 192.168.0.1 below that it will have DNS server for primary DNS server put the same thing as what you added for the default gateway and dont worry about setting a secondary DNS server, then click OK and restart your PC when you log back in you should be all sorted.

I bought a notepad w/ Vista and would like to install XP on it. A Best Buy customer service guy said that Best Buy's Geek Squad would install XP for free. I come back to Best Buy the next day to have them install XP but two Geek Squad guys are telling me there is a high chance XP WONT work once it is installed. I wonder if they said that because they dont want to do it for free. What do you think?

Yes XP and Vista can be installed at the same time on different partitions though. Problem with windows is that it only boots from a primary partition! The real issue here stands in making windows believe it's booting from a primary partition which in fact it's not!

It's really easy to do so (there are many software available now that do this very easy and quick).

That sounds like a pretty serious problem. You should hire some professional service for that. There is stuff I could tell you to do, however, it is fairly complex and doing it wrong could delete everything on your hard drive. If you go to someone who can be at your computer he can either fix your computer or take the hard drive out and get files off of it (depending on the situation). That would be the best course of action. Unfortunately, chances are that you are screwed.
You MAY not need the Startup disc. Most computers in the past few years have the "disc" on your hard drive (Usually under another Drive letter such as D, G, etc...

Your PC is not getting an IP address from the DHCP server on the router. Sometimes there are compatibility issues between the wireless NIC and the router. DO to the router manufacturer's web site under support and look for firmware updates. Also look for updates to your wireless NIC from the manufacturer's web site. I have seen these updates work wonders!!.

You might also check the security settings on the router to make sure it does not require that you authorize the MAC address of the Wireless PC..

Confirm that your PC and the router are using identical security settings. Not WPA2 on the router and WPA on the PC.

When iin doubt start with your router having all security turned off, then step in security one piece at a time.

Ok, I have installed vista on the machine before (with no problems) but decided to install vista on a smaller and faster drive (drive d). i first booted up on the working drive (drive c) , then i installed the software and set up the drives to select cable. When I booted up it showed both the c and the d drive. When I clicked on the d drive it wouldn鈥檛 work, so I clicked on the c drive and to my sprise it didn't work. yes check if dns is working by doing the following:

1. open upa dos window

2. type in nslookup

if you get back a default server (which I think you won't) then you need to make sure that the network card is set to dhcp or if you set manually that the dns server IP is correct

I would also check the routing table (netstat -rn from a dos window) and compare to the routing table on a working PC (teh default gateway shold be the same, IP should be different)

also check to make sure that the non working machine has a valid IP address for your network (ipconfig forma dos window)

if it doesn't try releasing the dhcp lease and renewing it (ipconfig \renew all from a dos window) assuming you are using dhcp (which you should do unless you are good with networking)

This happens sometimes, try unpluging the power cord on all your devices (modem, router. etc...) and wait a minute, reconnect them in order by plugging in the modem 1st then the router, and then the settings will be resetted
make sure dns setting are correct. U should check with yr isp whether they have any maintenance or not.
make sure all lights on modem are green. You could try plugging in the modem directly into a computer to see if the problem is from your ISP or your router. If all else fails, that is what calling your isp tech support is for.

Just a few days ago, it stated that i am unable to view the workgroup comps %26 the network path couln not be found. I checked and my workgroup is MSHOME. Make sure the computer browser service is running (Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services) - if it isn't, turn it on and reboot. If it is, turn it off, reboot, turn it on, then reboot again. That service enables your PC to see others in your network.

Well what protocols do you have loaded? If you are running TCP/IP is there a DNS server or a WINS server on the network? TCP/IP has no method of discovering machine names. If you run IPX/SPX protocol as well as TCP/IP that takes care of it but it does introduce more traffic to the network. When you repaired the connection it may have removed the IPX/SPX or Netbuei protocols that had been previously installed and now has no way to reference the computer name to the IP address of the machine.

I cant tell if my XP is Home or Professional!!! maybe you can help.?

my computer got messed up and i had to repair it. I used an applications and drivers cd, that Gateway had sent me. When repairing, one of the installation screens that poped up said "XP Professional" on it. but after installation, when my computer starts up, it says Windows XP, nothing about home or pro. When i go to control panel, then press system, it says my computer is "XP Media Center Edition". When i go in to Tune Up, (a pc optimizing software) and i look at my computer info there, it says i have XP Pro. And just today i was searching through my computer, and i found the "XP Profesional" start up image (the image that pops up on the screen when you turn on your computer) deep in the WINDOWS folder in my computer. i have no idea what is going on... maybe some one else does. please comment. tx!

The XPS 710 is discontinued so you're only going to find it as recertifed or refurbished at Dell--which means --used!

Also comes with XP which means DirectX9. The HP is decent except for one thing--the $30 128MB 8300GS video card. That card will utterly stink playing video games. See if you can have your parents get it with the video card upgraded to an 8800GT and a PSU that can handle it. Then you'll really like that HP especially when playing something like Lost Planet or Bioshock in DirectX 10.
The XPS smokes the HP, but the XPS is alot more expensive also.

What will you be using the computer for? If gaming get the XPS, if just an email, web brower, the HP should be fine.

yep is that an LAN connection or a wireless? (doubt very highly it's dial-up...unless it is...in which case i apologize lol)

yup it just means that you computer isn't connecting with your server for some reason, so you probably just need to shut down your whole computer, unhook the internet connection cable (be it the phone line or the LAN cord, whatever connects you to the net) and try then hooking it all back up. Also try going up the top of this browser thing here and go to Tools, Internet Options, and Connections and check your settings. Something might be amiss.

The point I am getting at is that it dosen't seem that I needed a starter to begin with and all along I just needed to replace the battery. no. i'm sure you signed the work order and told them to go ahead. you might want to get a 2nd opinion, or find another mechanic. they were just taking advantage of the fact that you are a girl...they do it all the time. unless you told them no, and didn't sign anything, they did what you "wanted" them to do. it sucks, but it happens. i'm sure even Midas does some tampering at times.

Older Dell's have this problem. Its been my experience that this is driver related but usually updating the driver isn't enough. Doing a driver rollback and then upgrading to a driver available on Dell's support page should do the trick. Easiest way to rollback a driver is right-clicking "My Computer" and click managed. Click device Manager and find the video adapter (not the monitor). Right click and select roll-back (roll-over) driver.

About a week ago, my Internet just stopped working on my laptop. It says that it's connected and that there's nothing wrong with it. But when I press "Repair" to fix it, it said that it couldn't complete the job because it couldn't renew the IP address. That's wierd, my wireless card on my laptop has only done that a few times, and after restarting my computer, it works fine. I would first suggest downloading new drivers for your wireless card, but if that fails, you can buy a new wireless card or go to somewhere like bestbuy for them to look at the internal hardware.

My MacBook which I purchased back in February of this year seems to be making a buzzing sound. I am pretty sure it is coming from the DVD Drive, seeing that it only happens when I insert and use a DVD in my computer. I would like to know if I could do anything to help it without sending it to get repaired (I have warranty).

Well i just got Microsoft Windoes XP Professional Service Pack 2 cd, and i booted my computer from it. It wanted to repair my old setup, but i didn't want to do that. So i deleted all my old partitions, and now its formatting a new partition on my c drive. Am i doing this correctly?

Yes. Next time it happens try to repair the master boot record by inserting the disk and after F8 you would hit the r key and wen you get a command prompt type " fixmbr ".

There is a good chance this will fix your problem and at this point you have nothing to lose.

Sounds right so far, as long as you're formatting in NTFS instead of FAT32, and didn't choose the quick format option.
Yep you're on the right track. It'll reformat your drive and then reinstall a new copy of Windows and your computer ought to be good as new. Everything you had on your old computer is gone though.

Most likely it's overheating.

There should be a main fan outlet port on the laptop.

Using compressed air - blast out this duct.

You really need to take the laptop apart to clean it properly, but this should provide the fix you need.

This can be any number of hardware or software errrors causing this - but that is the most likely culprit.

I have a quicken program. All of a sudden it stopped working I go to get into it and it tells me I am missing a main file to run it, so I tried uninstalling it but it wont uninstall. I then tried to put the CD in to repair it but it wont repair it either. I also go into the hard drive to try and find the backup files but there is nothing there. I have also tried restoring my computer to before this all happened. Could this be a virus? Or what is going on?

when u put the cd in, dont do a repair. use the cd to reinstall the program so it will refresh the files. repair usually never works. also see if the cd will allow you to uinstall the program, and then reinstall the program.

Sometimes your computer moves files... called fragmenting... this could be a possibility... try going to your disk defragmenter... (should be done every few weeks anyways) do a search on your computer for disk defrag... and the first thing that will pop up is the "tool" that allows you to de-frag your computer.. when you open it you will see a list of your drives... ie C: -this is your main drive (maybe your only one) click once on it or until it is highlighted than click analyze a box will come up with "you should defragment or not" just click close... now if you see a lot of red or if the popup said you should defrag than when you have some time to not use the computer (other wise it is super slow) click on defragment. This will get rid of most or all of the red.. the red is bad.. that means your files ar not exactly where or how they are meant to be...

G'day, my fp72g monitor died tonight when i was playing a game. It gave a white flash as i saw the pixels turning white then blank then i couldnt see anything. So i restarted my computer saw that the on off light responded accordingly with standby and on but the screen displayed nothing. If it's still under warranty, let BenQ fix it or replace it. If not, buy a new LCD and, this time, leave the resolution at the manufacturer's recommended Native settings.

First I am not computer savey at all I need suggestions please, I keep losing Internet connection while working. After initiating the diagnose and repair directive it sometimes will activate most of the time it directs me to unplug the router wait 10 seconds and try to connect. If wireless, Might be the router, I had the same problem after I upgraded my router with a newer firmware, after that it kept disconnecting me. I finally got another router and it worked fine. I would say, try your laptop on another wifi spot, like Panera or some free place. If it works fine there, then it's not your laptop, but the router, if it is still bad, then it may be the laptop's wifi card. They now sell wifi usb sticks, which you can buy, instead of having to send the laptop somewhere.

You did not state what type of connection. If hardwire, yes I would suspect the router if you have done all the updates to the computer device. There have been several released lately for the Realtek devices. If wireless, change the channel to get away from interference from other wireless devices. I always start with 11. Make sure you have a good antivirus and have run an active scan recently.
Try checking your blue tooth device if your using one. Maybe your hard ware is not functioning well or if your using modem then maybe your modem is defective or your provider is not a good one.

I can't delete the limewire incomplete folder--help!?

I have been unable to delete this folder. I was able to remove all but one file (0 bites). When I try to delete the file or the folder my computer freezes. It does the same thing in safe mode. I have run a virus check--no issues. I have run a defrag, I have run a registry check/repair and I have even tried to move the file to a different location. As a last ditch effort I tried to unsucessfully run a system restore. Any ideas?

I would say, go for it. You are never to old to go back to school. After high school, I swore I would never go back to school again and I graduated in 1996 from high school. I did finally decide to go to College in 2003 and am still there working toward my degree and will be finished in May 2007. You will never know what you are missing out on if you dont go for it.
