My latop DVD+/-RW drive keeps popping out and won't stay shut, what do I do???

This isn't the first time the cd drive has ever just popped out at random but it always closed back before. I've tried taking the drive out completely, examining it, and putting it back in again a billion times. Even when it's out of the computer, it won't stay shut.

I've also tried 'holding' the drive shut and pressing the eject button (T___T which didn't work) and unscrewing the drive to see if there is a latch that isn't snapping together but I couldn't find anything...

I REALLY need some help because I just started a new semester of college and one of my classes is a self-paced computer class that requires me to do everything at home with a CD. I don't have time to send my computer off to get it repaired.

I have a Gateway CX200X Convertible laptop; I just bought it last April in 2006.

~Thanks!

There has to be something there that isn't working right. Maybe something sticking?

You could just get an external drive for now, or you could take the drive to Best Buy or something where they can repair it on site.

And, there's always duct tape.

Edit: Just on an off chance of something having gotten stuck in there, remove the tray and see if there's anything preventing it from closing.
