My laptop shows limited/no connectivity: cannot aquire IP address; how do i do this?

This is a problem I am having at home with my laptop. I know that my wireless internet works on my laptop, because i use it at work with no problem. My router at home works because my desktop is able toget onto the internet, and the wireless light is on.

My laptop says that it has an invalid IP address and cannot renew the IP address when I push the repair button.

I am not very computer savvy, so please be specific--help me to renew my IP address!!!

Try this:

Off your router, follow by modem. Wait for 1 min....on your modem, wait till lights stable, then on your router. Should be able to fix your issue. On/off with main power supply.

Ask your IT person at work whether you're connecting to a domain. If you are, you have to reset things in your computer every time you switch from home to office and back. There are programs you can run that allow you to just choose which configuration you want, but I don't know of any free ones. (Netsetman may be able to do it - I've never tried using it to connect to a domain.)
