My dad has a computer with internet on it (it's verizon via ethernet cable) and I have a laptop. When I unplug it from his computer and plug it into mine, it tells me I have limited connectivity. I have Windows Vista with Norton 360 and my computer is an HP Pavillion dv6000. I have tried telling it to repair, but that never works. Does anyone know whats wrong?

Ok, the most likely cause is that the router (if he has one) is not set up for DHCP. If that's the case, you cannot just plug any machine in and retrieve an IP address automatically. Setting up DHCP is not hard but outside the scope of Yahoo! Answers.
