Ip addresses? I dont get it?

What happens if someone has your ip address? like what can they find out?

also, how do you change yours? can you right click on the little computers for the internet and hit repair- does that change the ip address?

Nothing will happen except that it would be easier to target someone if you know his IP address, also knowing you IP address means knowing your real life address and maybe some other information about you.

You can not change your IP only but asking your ISP to do so or changing the ISP itself but there is something called dynamic IP which means that you are not the same every time you connect to the Internet but it still in the same rage: something like 192.67.89.XX

But a firewall prevents those from coming.

IP stands for internet protocol...it's where your computer is on the internet. If they have your IP it's *easier* to target you but still not a walk in the park if you have protection.

Many firewalls mask the last bit of the IP-for example when I track my website stats, I see things like:

90.208.141.#

208.70.116.#

Because the firewall blocks that last bit. Your IP might change regularly thanks to your ISP. If you really want to insure a change, talk to them.

If some really has your computers IP address they can navigate your hard-drive and basically do anything they want. Provided you have some good firewall protection and have password protection on your P.C. You should be O.K.
