According to your description, there may have some regsitry errors in your PC to cause "cant uninstall".You need to clean you PC.

Every time you install and uninstall software on your computer you create junk in the registry. You need to scan and clean your PC with registry cleaner.

There are some comparison and review of registry cleaners.

go to start-run type regedit search for it, if it is on there delete it that will take it out of the registry
With the card still in the computer, go to device manager. Right click and select uninstall. This will clear out the registry hooks. Pull the card out.

Regarding the add/remove programs, keep the card out and remove any application that was installed to manage it. There might be more than one that is obvious.

Download and run ccleaner from ccleaner.com and clean your registry. You can also manually remove from the add/remove list.

RESTART

OK - at this point, you said 'all i wanna do is get the thing working again!!!!'

Plug the card in and have the CD handly ONLY IF windows cannot install it using default drivers. Do not install 3rd party or netgear applications. Once installed physically, open control panel and run wireless network setup wizard. Should make EVERYTHING good again.
