CAN WINDOWS XP SERVICE PACK 2 BE THE CULPRIT THAT CAUSES MY COMPUTER TO FREEZE OFF AND ON ALL THE TIME. YESTERDAY I RAN IT ALL DAY AND IT NEVER FROZE ONCE. TODAY I HAVE BEEN ON IT ABOUT 1 HR. OR LESS AND IT FROZE TWICE. I AM NOT RUNNING ANY OTHER PROGRAMS OR HAVE OTHER WINDOWS OPENED WHEN IT FREEZES SOME TIMES IT JUST FREEZES WITH NOTHING RUNNING. CAN ANYONE GIVE ME SOME GOOD ADVISE ON HOW TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM OTHERWISE IT IS BACK TO THE REPAIR SHOP AND SOON IT WILL BE CHEAPER TO BUY A NEW COMPUTER RATHER THAN KEEP FIXING THIS ONE FOR THE SAME PROBLEM ALL THE TIME. IT RUNS OK EXCEPT FOR IT FREEZING UP ON ME. ITS A 2.40 GH. INTEL CELERON 224 MB OF RAM
Windows xp professional freeze up problems. (service pack 2) the cause?virus scan
XP W/ SP 2 IS ACTUALLY (man, that's annoying) quite stable. With problems like that I'd try reinstalling Windows--this'll give you a fresh install and wipe out stuff running in the background. If same thing happens with fresh install you probably have a hardware problem.
Windows xp professional freeze up problems. (service pack 2) the cause?anti virus scan
I don't know if this will be of any help, but my first suspicion is some hardware problem.
If you were at the time connected to the internet, suspect the modem. If you are connected to a LAN, perhaps the lan card. Also it could be the video driver or the sound card. Check the sites for updates to these devices also for your mother board.
I ounce had a problem with my connection to the internet. I finally got wise and replaced the modem. The problem was solved.
1st of all i would put more ram in it. xp always has probs with the registry so i advise any 1 with xp to get a registry fix programe %26 run it at least once a week %26 see most of your problems go..........
