My computer shut down in a power failure and when it loaded back up Yahoo messenger said it loaded in safe mode but now I can't see my buddies list. How can I repair this problem

Try to get out of "safe mode" and see if it brings back your Messenger List. "Safe Mode" means that one of your plug-ins had an error and Yahoo! Messenger closed all the other plug-ins you had running and restarted. To get out of "safe-mode", all you need to do is restart the plug-ins you had running.

Here's how:

1) Click on the "Plug-ins" button towards the bottom of the screen, look for the green puzzle piece.

2) The Plug-ins manager will appear, click on the "My Plug-ins" tab.

3) Click "Start" next to the plug-ins you would like to restart.

4) Close the window.

If you still cannot see your Messenger List that means you have found a bug some people are running into in version 8.0. Help Yahoo! find it and fix it.

Click "Enable Logging" in the Help menu. Try view you contacts and make sure it still doesn't work. Now click "Submit Logs" in the Help menu. Be sure to put in a brief description of the problem, and then Send.

After you submitted your logs, you might want to go back to an older version of Yahoo! Messenger.
