Replacing problem Windows Vista with Xp?

Im sick of Vista in my laptop (Gateway MT6840) it was in stock of course. And i would like to replace it with XP, i've got OEM XP Media Center Edition. By trying to run disk in bios, i faced the problem. Cd boots, blue screen appears, loading driver and etc. then it offers to make a choise: to install XP, Repair and Quit installation. I chose 1st, and receive this: "Windows can not find any hard drives on ur computer, check if it is connected and bla bla bla". And by stock its 160 gb hard drive with two partitions, 1st is 138 gb with OS and other stuff, and 2nd is Recovery drive about 4gb.

Help me out please!

It seems like you might have a SATA drive on the laptop...

You will need to find out the manufacturer of the Hard drive...%26lt;www.belarc.com download belarc advisor, This will tell you if it is SATA also%26gt; then once you have that info go to their site and download the SATA drivers....they will have them. You will need to have these on a disk for the install....once you start the install process...look for the " press F6 to install third party drivers" at the bottom of the screen....and follow directions...it should find the drive easily...and you will be on your way....

**NOTE**

Go to gateway's site and look for the drivers for the laptop with the XP OS FIRST**
