HP ZE4500 Plug Problem. Any information?

I have an HP ZE 4500 with the typical plug problem that causes it to go to battery or power down. Does anybody have information on how to fix it or know how much a repair would cost me? I want to give the computer to my niece since my wife and I purchased a new one.

Can somebody help?

While you can replace it with a new HP 5 vold adapter I prefer to cut the plastic back find the broken wire and solder it. Be carefull not to melt the plastic parts with the soldering iron. Do not use a salder gun it will ruin the connector. A replacement connector can be purchased but you still have to salder it on.
The connectors from the power plug actually break from the motherboard. I had the same problem. After seeing a new motherboard was $400, I just ended up buying a new one for $650.

There are some tech shops that you can send it to and they will solder the connections back to the board, but from what I read, that fix usually lasts a couple months and it happens again. Kind of a waste of $150 if you ask me.

Sorry, I had the same issue and never found a better solution than just buying a new laptop.
