Yeah do this on your own. Take classes, and get your A+, Net+, MCP. MCSA, MCSE. that's a good start! Read those books many times and get some hands on experiance. I think Geek Squad sucks! those people half the time have no idea what they are doing. I have gone by one of those booths before at Best Buy and saw this "tech" pissing off some people totally confused. So I reached over and gave a few pointers. they tried to hire me, but they couldnt come close to being able to afford me.

study up for the Comptiaa A+ tests and combine that with some Microsoft MCSA/MCSE book knowledge and you will be well on your way!
If you want a computer repair class take A+ or A++
Computer Science or Technology Management.
