here's something to try...if you have a regular monitor run a cable from the monitor to your laptop. If you get picture from there you know your laptop's screen has failed and your video card still works. If the monitor still doesn't show picture you could have a bad video card and if your video card is built in to your motherboard you're going to need to replace your laptop. If you have a warranty nows the time to use it.
Also if this issue is happening randomly you might want to delete and reinstall your display driver. A corrupt display driver could cause this.
