Limited or no connectivity broadband?

Non-wireless. My internet cable works fine when I am using my laptop, however, it doesn't work in my desktop. I have rebooted the compuer, went into network connections %26 repaired (it could not be repaired). I don't have a router, my connection is directly from the wall using cable (cat5) directly into imy computer.

Some cable providers bind the MAC address of your network card to your modem and will not allow other MAC addresses to be used. You have two choices.

1) Call your cable service provider, say that you replaced a computer, and have them re-set registration.

2) Get a router, enter your laptop's MAC address into it and connect though it. This way you can even access Internet on both laptop and desktop at the same time.
